About Zero Ohm: where do the figures in these notes come from?

Zero Ohm is a working notebook on domestic lighting and electrics, written from renovation jobs in apartments and villas across the Emirates. The site holds five long notes published between 25 June 2026 and 4 August 2026, filed under planning and first fix, fixtures and lamps, and switches and dimming.

Where do the lumen, lux and dirham figures come from?

Every figure on Zero Ohm was either measured on site or copied from a manufacturer datasheet. Lux readings are taken at the working plane: 750 mm above floor level for a desk, 900 mm for a kitchen worktop, and at the page for a reading position. Estimated numbers are labelled as estimates.

Prices are quoted in dirhams and reflect what the parts cost at Dubai trade counters during 2026, not manufacturer list prices. Electricity costs on this site use a domestic tariff of 0.29 AED per kWh. A price older than twelve months carries the month it was collected.

What does Zero Ohm not publish?

Zero Ohm carries no shop, no affiliate links and no sponsored placements. Products are named only where the specification changes the outcome, such as a driver that dims to 1 per cent rather than 10 per cent, and left unnamed wherever any equivalent part at the same specification would do the job.

How are corrections handled?

A figure that looks wrong may well be wrong. Corrections are published inside the note rather than in a separate list, the note gets a new update date at the top, and the superseded figure stays visible in the text so a reader can see what changed and when the change was made.
